First, here’s a random picture of Arizona that my dad took. Gorgeous!
My parents spent some time in Sedona, AZ (two hours north of Phoenix), so we joined them for an easy 10km+ day hike.
The views on the way to the hiking trail were stunning.
West Fork Oak Creek Trail
This is a super popular trail, so it was pretty busy. I’d relate it to Grassy Lakes near Canmore, Alberta – perfect to do with kids, lots of creeks to cross and nice sights all around. It would probably be more lush in the summer though.
We drove up Airport Road to go and see one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. Truly.
We walked around a little Spanish area in Sedona afterwards.
The Grand Canyon
I saw the Grand Canyon over five years ago now, but since Graham hadn’t yet, we made the 4 hour drive from Phoenix in one day. The Grand Canyon is beautiful enough to see once (maybe hike around the rim or head down into the canyon for a day hike), but that’s it. I’m not intrigued enough to need to go back there again.
Some of these pictures are mine, some are my dad’s (his camera >>> iPhone 4S).
